Update

So why don't I update is it because I'm lazy (I don't think so) I come to terms telling myself that I shouldn't update because by and far No one updates except for Maylee Gerald and Brenda. So other than that by life has been about the same Work work work. but starting next week ill be working less so that will be great. Also i started using twitter, at first I thought it was a stupid unnecessary program but as time has gone by i find myself addicted. Lastly I just finished watching Transformers (the original) and will probably see the second some time later this week. well that all for now I hope to update more often, but part of the fun in blogging is seeing others post

Salt and Light

Over the last few days I've been contemplating this passage

13You are like salt for everyone on earth. But if salt no longer tastes like salt, how can it make food salty? All it is good for is to be thrown out and walked on.

14You are like light for the whole world. A city built on top of a hill cannot be hidden, 15and no one would light a lamp and put it under a clay pot. A lamp is placed on a lamp stand, where it can give light to everyone in the house. 16Make your light shine, so that others will see the good that you do and will praise your Father in heaven.

It seems to me that all too often we just participate in the hobby of Christianity. Have we lost our saltiness and if so does it make us worthless. What good is it to be a bright shining light that is only brought out on Sundays. On a second note what is it to be a Christian its not just to believe but to practice we cannot continue just going to Church, clock in, agree with what we are taught, and then clock out and go about our life under a clay pot to hide ourselves from others that might find us weird.


I charge you to ask yourself. If I am the salt of the earth am I salty or bland, and if I am the light of the earth do I go home and put myself under a pot or do I place myself atop a stand so that everyone can see?

Beautiful Night

Last night on my paper route was very terrifyingly beautiful. It was one of those stormy nights where for whatever reason its not raining but looking at the sky you would think it should be. Ive always found weather simply amazing save the fact that some beautiful weather will try to kill you. The rain did not set in until I was finished and I am very thankful for that.

Also yesterday Ashleigh's dad and I (not sure if I'm on a first name basis) fixed the fan motor on my car. My only concern now is that when I tried it out by leaving my car idle with full ac going for 15 minutes it was very cold in my car so I think i can live with that. Ended up saving about $175 by doing the tedious 45 minutes of work ourselves. Also I learned to change my oil on my "new Car" turns out its difficult if i leaver the passenger tire on and simple if i take it off (who knew) so another $15 dollars saved per oil change.



lastly its kind of far away but If you just cant seem to make your money work for you you really need to check out Dave Ramsey. Awhile

its been a while since my last post but since lately I commit this crime few and far between compared to everyone else I forgive me. The last week has been rather eventful. wednesday Ash and I went to see Disney's Earth which was beautiful makes me want blue ray so I can get planet earth. Then Thursday I got to break out my bowling ball and the consensus is out I'm awesome game 1 126 game 2 116 game 3 141. During bowling we found a new place that has 2 dollar games after 9. then yesterday we went to olive garden with friends and then saw 17 again for the first time which much to my surprise was rather funny and cute, but not to the point that i would go see 17 again. well more to come later (I mean hopefully sooner)

Vroom Vroom

So If your wondering why i haven't posted lately then you don't know that I work for Texas Motor Speedway seasonally. I especially enjoy working there and I'm not sure why because it is always a beat down energy-wise. Just to show how rough my weekend has been:

3 years and counting

Yesterday was mine and Ashleighs 3 year anniversary and I really cant believe its been this long it seems like only 2 years and 11 months but Im farely certain that it has been 3 whole years. For our special day I had Ashleigh call to make sure I was awake after my paper route around 2:15pm, then we talked for a while, then I went to work at my part time job. Seriously though Tuesday evening will be dedicated to our special day, and I am unaware of the events to come, but hopefully I will figure it out by the time we get to wherever we go.

Backtracking a little further the day before was a friends of ours last minute change from wedding reception to just a anniversary party. I dont really know the why or How but the party was less akward than anticipated. We went to the diamond club at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Then had a fancy meal followed by what was probably too much dessert. The after meal part was dancing and karoke which im farely bad at both but with little effort was able to make ashleigh shake her head in what I hope wasn't shame.

Lastly I paid for our what will be our second cruise to mexico recently and am greatly anticipating being a veteran cruiser which basically means I get to go to a party that you (you being a first time cruiser or a stay at home while i cruiser) dont get to go to I am also taking applications* on souvineer so make sure you apply

Goals and new challenges

So March 31 is fast approaching and this is post 23 I can still hit my Bronze goal of 25 posts from February 7 through march 31, and truth be told I could of hit my 1st goal of 35 posts in this time frame. What happened was no one really gets on here that often. There were many times over the last few days I told myself that ; Hey I should post about that then chalked it off by deciding that no one will notice if I do or don't post and it would be a rarity if someone comments. we have all gotten to the point (Self Included) that we just read then go about our days, but the problem with that is I cant tell if you are following up on me. I personally read everyone's blog but rarely comment, So I issue myself and anyone else interested out there My new challenge will be to comment on each and every post out there in My (our) blog world out there for the next month, then secondly I vow that my blog will not ever say updated 1 week ago, and I don't accept the answer I've been meaning to get to that for a while now....I've just been busy. It is my firm belief that you can post without being a FOST with little to no effort.

In other news continuing with wedding reminiscing The second wedding we went to was Justin and Courtney's who I know through my fraternity and Ashleigh knows through her sorority. It was a great wedding that we actually made it to on time which is kinda of a knack that we have. There at the reception the grooms cake had a BYX crest on it which was awesome BYX being the fraternity I'm in if you did not know. I got to hang out with some of the other guys that i haven't seen lately more of in the 3+ semesters after my first. We danced a bit but mainly only the songs that instruct you what to do.

Also bought my bowling ball last night against Lizzy's wishes (see bowling post for my thoughts on frivolous bowling). We also finalized our final cruise payment so Officially on June 1 we will be heading to Mexico and I intend to shed little or no blood this time and if someone offers a scooter at little or no cost i will show them my kneecap where i have my permanent Mexico tattoo of a scar (Kinda like Harry potter) but my he who must not be named is a curb)

reminiscing part 1

over the last few days Ive been reintroduced to my former life as far as my fraternity goes. The set up was two weddings between two of my close friends Cass to Lauren and Justin to Courtney. It started with a trip to Denton to Cass' wedding a very small wedding with a all of a sudden theme. ranging from a 100 or less crowd in a small wedding chapel and dinner a a small Italian restaurant complete with a cookie wedding cake. Many of my former friends were there including Josh Jason and Joel all of which I haven't seen in 1 or maybe more years. We all had dinner together and it was nice to hang out with the group again. Hopefully this will give me the charge to hang out with them in the near future. Ive kinda had a stuck up attitude towards them lately saying that well they haven't called me so why should i call them. More to come later today including the other wedding.

Yay Tennis

We had our semi annual tennis gathering today with Matt, Lizzy, Ash, Richie, David, Emily, and myself, and as usual had a great time and decided we should do this more often maybe this year we can get a weekly thing going. I let David borrow my secondary tennis racket that hasn't been used in like 8 year and now he has black hands (guess I need new grip)In other news I'm heading to Denton tomorrow for a March Madness basketball bachelor party for one of my fraternity brothers Cass. Its an all day thing and I cant wait to hang with all my brothers that I haven seen in a while

haven't had much to talk about lately this week has been pretty mellow still no new news on my job situation but Ive come to realize that i receive little or no respect at Saginaw (my first Rodney Dangerfield moment)In other news i broke and have now fixed my passenger side window it got stuck down and thanks to some handy work be myself and David it is at least an up position more to come tomorrow but felt like i needed to post today

Imminent Doom

I cant believe I forgot to mention this but I recently saved the Pizza hut I.......

(Well the best way to say it is if I was facebook friends with Pizza hut Saginaw I would be in a its complicated relationship with it)

saved it from imminent doom. Here is the story:

I had just finished my classes for Monday night when I decided to go to The Hut and get my paycheck stub which would later lead to Post 17 over pay rate. I was about to leave after successfully completing my mission when I decided to go to the back and check my schedule (lucky I did because I was scheduled to work Tuesday night) when all of a sudden I see a burst of flame coming from the fryer so I bolt for the door to escape but upon seeing a fire extinguisher next to the escape door I quickly change my plans. i would like to say I changed heart because its the right thing to do, but seriously I've never used a fire extinguisher before. So I grabbed it and turned back to what only looked like the fire coming from a small dragon in the bowels of the fryer. Without haste I squeezed the handle to the extinguisher to no avail. I had forgotten the pin. I quickly pulled it from the top and again pulled on the handle. Wow what a rush. The dragon was defeated and I was King of all the Land.

In retrospect I should of taken the fire extinguisher home and played with it later thus ending both my problems. well that's it for now i told the person next to me that I need to study for a PSYC test at 7 and they say I'm procrastinating whatever that means.

not much to talk about but today at the hut I had a guy try and scam me Don't really want to go into detail but I called him out and what was my reward he chewed me out for 15 min. In the end I won because he took his business to blue mound And i was able to alert them and now he is not welcome to any pizza hut in the region so i guess my 15 min fight with guy paid off in some way

I got called indirectly a bunch of names I resent and didn't deserve but in the end feel like I won. It just irritates me that my conversation with him ended with I want your superiors number.

Today I got my first check from pizza hut with my demotion in full swing. it was .75 per hour lower that I would of accepted with my consent and .25 lower that expected based on what I was told I would be making. In most scenarios this sounds like it will be my last days here. Ironically the man I need to talk to is on vacation and I wont make any rash decisions until I speak to him. Based on how this was handled I wont expect much. I started looking for other jobs extensively today. Namely a hotel management and upper management Grocery both of which sound intriguing to me and pay well within the amounts I'm looking for, but only time will tell

DST

Daylight savings time was today this was probably the first DST that didn't really effect me I changed the time around 8pm last night to try and get a jump (pun intended) on the time. I figured doing so would ultimately help me on my route Sunday. In other news finished my first week of 50 per week work and it felt good I have so much more energy overall and attend all my classes without first thinking do i REALLY need to go today. In other news I in the nest few weeks i should be losing my sunday shift and can resume normal church activity cant wait for that.

The bowling fund matures

Tonight is Ashleigh's Sorority New member party its a hangout (usually bowling) that is in celebration of their pledges becoming new members. Its been a while but hopefully i can break a 100. I tend to do OK at bowling but on bad days chalk it up to the size of the ball. You see I have big fingers and cannot use the size ball that i would prefer (size 12 preferred) Instead i have to use the size 16 just so my fingers will fit fine. I can do this for 1 game fine but then it begins to hurt. However this is the last time that I will have this problem because My bowling fund has hit 200 dollars and I can now but a custom made ball that is the size finger hole I prefer and the weight I like. I know some would say Matt i thought you were getting out of debt why are you purchasing something so frivolous and I agree but, over the last 11 months Ive saved 15 to 20 dollars per month and when I hit 200 plan to buy so in a way I earned it. Or at least justified to me a way I can make a "unnecessary" purchase without feeling bad. I also get shoes with the ball as well as a bag for the ball.

Just sad really

So as I vented days ago about my lack of attendance and yet high grade on the first test with no studing. I have come to realize a few statistics about said test brace yourself:

Average grade of entire class 69.4
range of test scores 28 ---- 92
Curve applied 8 points
median score 78

So my 92 became a 100 and I am officially the smartest person in the class that ive attended now 4 times. 2 death threats to the annomyous person who killed the curve luckily no one would even assume it was me. The instructor apparently read the test about 80% of it that is for the review for the test and still average grade 69.4 and these are the students that are supposed to understand computers

I really dont understand why easy classes cannot be tested out of. Today was my first test for a simplistic computer class. Based on my horrible work schedule the last few weeks ive not attended to the effect of present 3 absent 8. Just took my first test and got a 92. The instructor told me that i need attend to pass the class regardless of my scores come May (not a problem with new work schedule). I understand the reason for this but truthfully I'd much rather pay 50 to 100 dollars to take some test that shows that I dont need the class. This is one of my first venting posts and I must say it makes me feel better

So my whole plan to take Ashleigh to the murder mystery dinner theater went well in my opinion. that is until I found out that Ashleigh was actually the one who did it. See it turns out that she took out a loan from the loan shark that she couldn't repay back ($24 dollars for a book on the Jonas brothers) so she poisoned his drink and then framed some of the people we met at the show. Overall it was a fairly cool thing with not so good food and a great performance that was fairly difficult to solve.

not much to talk about today just a couple of things that i've been meaning to mention over the last few days. first off the intersection where i had my accident (resulting in failure to stop at a 4 way intersection with only 1 stop sign) is now a 4 way stop light.
secondly in my last installment of route dogs the last dog on my route is actually a sad story since my first day he has been chained to this tree and every time i pass he jumps up and races towards my car only to be jerked back by the short chain he is attached to. Well about 1 week ago the owners of said dog built a fence and i thought yay he can be free to roam and not be choked daily. The fence was finished 3 days ago and the dog is still chained but when I drove by tonight the dog was released and i couldn't be happier for him.

in other news Ash and I are going to a event that i planned for her birthday but had to reschedule. Cant talk about it now cause its still a surprise but more to come.

a couple of days ago Ashleigh and myself found this pizza place in Saginaw called Papa Murphy's its a little pizza carryout location where you go in and they make you a pizza then you take it home and cook it kind of a weird concept but an awesome pizza. We weren't expecting to make our own pizza, but overall a good experience somewhere above frozen pizza at albertsons the 7 dollar kind.

Clarification

So at Davids birthday party Lizzie pointed out to me that I don't follow her blog (not entirely true) I do follow it but for some reason have a lack to comment on it. The reason I was called out on not reading wasn't because I wasn't posting on it but because it wasn't on my list of blogs on my right sidebar like everyone else. The reason being is A> I didn't know of her page initally and 2> I now use google reader to follow my blogs. It is an awesome application for google users that basically allows you to add subscriptions to web pages and it will compile everyone together to make a 1 pager blog that is easier to read rather than 15 diffrent pages that take more time to load. Its definitely something worth trying out and if you dont like it don't use it. In other news my free car is up and running now 100% more legal. Still has some dog hair in it but thats a story for some other time


Some time later....

So I got my car estimated on how much it will cost to get all the dog hair out and the salesman said 70 dollars (was expecting 40) then he went on to say that my car once inspected my mgmt will more than most likely incur a 30 dollar needs significant work fee. Yay me

Warning and being let down again

So I've been blogging for about 3 months now only 20 posts altogether and i have come to notice you cant just post about anything just to say you've updated recently. If you do the masses IE Clint will call you out. I consider myself blessed that I have never received one of these reprimands, (knock on keyboard). In other news I might have to quit my job based on pay I decided in my head that I wanted 10.25 an hr and would settle for 9.75 but have found out that it will be more or less 9.25 which is an insult to me, but I have decided that I will talk it out with the higher ups before making any rash decisions. It might be for the best I've had little to no good feelings from this job lately and maybe it is time for a change. I'm planning on making a decision around march 1, but if i do get a new job it definitely wont be punctuation editor?

Baby Challenge

So today in my Psyc class we learned about babies and how they perceive the world. I learned that for the first 6 months the have little to no depth perception. The we went into acceptance. A baby for the first two months just wants to be held by anyone and everyone, but the from 2-7 months gains the power of preference and throughout this time In my head was an epic struggle between all the Gaston girls to gain the preference of Maylee. After 7 months the baby gains a sense of stranger anxiety and has fully decided on preference of its key influences in its life. who will win this epic struggle in the preference of Maylee only time will tell. The only thing for certain is Katie you better hurry back because you'll have time to make up.

Today i took a demotion at my job of Pizza Hut. I have mixed feelings over the matter but know in the end God will prevail. My life for the last 6-7 months has been work work work and some sleep I worked weekly about 76 hrs per week and slept probably 35-45 hrs per week just not right. The reason being was to get out of debt or at least be on the way there. Although my goal was not completely met I have made good headway on that goal but at this time cannot go further. Sure I need the money to finish but I over an extended amount of time have felt trapped as said job. Please pray for me and my finances under my new demotion I will be at the paper 25 hrs and the hut 25 hrs but at a different store because i feel burnt out at Saginaw. So 50 hrs is not perfect but significantly better. This 100 hr per month cut is taking about 800 dollars from my budget so $8 per hour lost but I think its for the best. We will see My boss has accepted my resignation and requested that I reconsider on May 15 so I can always go back if I really want to

V day and lofty Goals

Post 4 I think i can I think I can....

So yesterday or 2 days ago (depending on time stamp) was Valentines day. It has sort of become tradition for Ashleigh and myself to hang out with friends on this holiday. However each one of us were able to sneak a fast on on the other in the gift department. Those who know me know my stance on flowers. so about 2 years ago I got Ash some flowers and over the next month she killed them. So this Vday I had flowers delivered to her house surprising her. (hopefully she wont kill these (fingers crossed)). She surprised me with a red Ipod Nano which I have named (drum roll please) Red laffy taffy since it is red and comparable in size to a laffy taffy. On the audio book front I decided to buy a 2 per month subscription to audible.com (already half way done with first book best idea ever)

On the posting goal this is number 4 with 31 to go in 43 days still about 1 every day and a half. Ive decided this is a Gold goal Silver Goal is 30 by march 31 and Bronze goal of 25 by march 31. I think Gold is still achievable but might be slightly out of my reach we will see.

On another note please pray for Clint he keeps trying to post but somehow his memory gets erased and never posts currently 10 days without a post oddly enough the day I started my challenge. please continue to encourage him to let us into his blogged life. Well off to work (stupid bonus day) Happy presidents Day

Books and routine

Over a period of lets say the last 6 months i have compiled a (once short but now long) list of queued books that I would like to read 10 I can think of currently. Just today I realized that while emptying out my spam email that a site called audible.com exists and offers audio books at a low monthly charge. Secondly I have come to hate Kidd Craddick in the morning on 106.1 Kiss Fm but at the same time realize that it is about the only ting on at 4 in the morning. My solution to this was to start taking my laptop with me on the paper daily to listen to Matt Chandler Sermon podcasts from the Village Church in Highland station (very deep stuff my the way) and Dave Ramsey but by next Wednesday ill e caught up on all the ones I missed. So I put 2 and 2 together and got Monthly audio book subscription. The only thing that remains is do I want 1 or 2 per month.

In other news I am no longer the Restaurant GM of Saginaw Pizza Hut as Kathie has come back from surgery and over the next few weeks Ill be dropping from The Hut being Full time to Part time (Ashleigh doesn't believe me)


Followup to route dogs
Dog two is just a voice to me that scares me occasionally in the night he (or at least his voice) barks at me as i finish my route approximately 2 times per week like some sort of ghost dog

dog three is my least favorite of all he is a jack Russel who thinks he is all that runs in front of my car constantly and me being the kind loving person to all things dog will slam on my brakes to avoid sudden death. The reason I hate hi so much is that twice now on Sunday I slammed on my brakes only to have all the pre-folded Sunday papers topple over in the back seat. It amounts to a 15 min cleanup of all my papers

dog 1 Waco because he doesn't chase after my car if i stop
dog 2 Gd or Devil Dog GD for Ghost dog and Devil because just when i forget he is there
dog 3 Jerk face dog and i know its sad but the thought has crossed my mind to somehow feed dog exlax so I can make his remembrance of me as crappy as he has made my remembrance of him

Looking at my challenge i have to post about once every 36 hrs and am about 12 hrs behind. In other news my free car thus named old lady car due to its make which is a Buick century. When I was told about the car i was informed that there was a ton of dog hair in the back seat and when i saw it i figured that i could make a small dog with the plethora of fur. However I cant drive it yet due to its expired registration and inspection, cant get it renewed until i get the title finalized. Still trying to get the Suzuki back it is starting to look like the police will be involved so that sux. In other news One of my favorite comedians will be on comedy central with new material tomorrow the 11Th of February so should be a fun tomorrow. Going to bed now long day ahead of me goodnight all

About time

It seems to me that if I post others follow kind of a if you type it they will comment and feel like they need to post something. Other than that the only way to get peoples to post is for Clint to post about all of our procratinitivity (probably a word of not should be). Some of you may say Matt you don't post either and I've come to find out that that is true, causing me to wonder why is that. Has my life not been eventful in the last few weeks (NO) its because the last few weeks have been very depressing in my life, and I don't like to post negative. Since then I've changed my mind to reflect my life as more of an open book. So here is my challenge to myself and to others if interested from now till march 31 i plan on posting minimally 35 times (no more than 1 per day) of relevance or humor. So here we go

Today i got a free car and didn't even have to be a contestant on the price is right My aunt and uncle (Tim and Jane) gave it to me. Its a 1998 Buick Century not my first choice but definitely within my price range. The only stipulation is it needs new inspection a new front window and an new battery. Today was Ashleigh's Happy Birthday Party, and everyone who read this were there and you know what fun it was. well that it for today see you tomorrow. Please let me know if you will join my posting endeavor and maybe just maybe Clint wont have to get onto us for not posting in February and March

QT Straws

So most of you know that i have a paper route in Azle and for those of you who don't know ( I have a paper route in Azle). Anywho Most days I frequent the local Quick Trip Gas station and purchase at least 1 drink (usually water) but sometimes a soda fro the fountain to save money. This story revolves around my 1-2 times purchasing that soda. You see every time I get one I casually grab a straw to use as a luxury item while drinking my beverage. The problem is QT uses very weak straws and I break my straw down the middle every time i go out on the route. some would say just grab an extra straw but while in the store (3am) i don't think hey better grab 2 straws because ill break one at 4am, but yesterday for the first time I got two straws and didn't break either one of them (figures)

In other paper news there is this dog that tries to bite my tires every night. when i see him daily I'm moving about 3 mph. At other times he will run in front of my car causing me to break so i don't run him over at 3mph, but the reason I bring this up is there are about 5 dogs on my route that Ive come to love/hate on my route and over the next 4 posts (5 including this one I'm going to profile them and collectively I/we can come up with names for them rather than just dog on such and such street)

Babe's

So this post should of be posted about 9 days ago, but was renergized in my thoughts earlier today. It all started with a text from Ashleigh on week ago from Thursday stating and I quote "babes for lunch on Sat the 10th.". (which promptly caused me to make a punctuation error on this post). It also caused me to do some sort of cheer at work that no one saw me do(thank God) but everyone heard me exclaim putting me in a please explain yourself predicament. So I showed Joe employee my phone (name changed to protect innocent) but after reading I did not get any sort of Lucky you comment. I then chose to ask if Joe had ever heard of babes to which he replied NO. (I fainted) but when I snapped out of it I began a mission to poll all my fellow workers on the existance of said restaraunt. I asked

I promptly ended my poll and took a minute to pray for these unfortunate souls. The told them of the awesome nature of the restaurant. I thought my terror was over but after work today I was asked of I would like a piece of Lindsey Employees pizza, to which i replied no I'm saving myself for Babe's (she has also not heard of the restaraunt causing me to rush home and post)

This is a complete injustice to the local population that has multiple babes restaurants in the greater fort worth area. I mean if these 8 haven't heard of it then i wonder how many 10's if not 20's haven't been to Babes (couldn't be more that that or it would probably be the end of days) well thats it for now hopefully a happier post later
